Is Crypto Halal or Haram? The Islamic View
Is investing in crypto halal or haram?
Many Muslims ask whether it is halal or haram to trade or invest crypto haram assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Scholars have different opinions. Some say cryptocurrency is haram because it is speculative, volatile, and lacks intrinsic value, similar to gambling. Others argue it can be halal if used ethically, as a medium of exchange and not for interest-based gains. To trade responsibly, Muslim investors often use tools like the liquidation heatmap on TradingView to analyze BTC price trends. The key is intention if crypto is used for transparent, fair trading without deception or riba (interest), then many believe it can be halal under Islamic finance principles.

I found this article surprisingly wellbalanced. It’s rare to see a crypto exchange tackle a topic like halal vs haram without oversimplifying it. BYDFi actually did a good job showing that it’s not black and white some scholars view crypto as speculative and risky, while others see it as a modern tool that can fit within Islamic finance, depending on how it’s used. What stood out most to me was the emphasis on intention. The same technology can be used ethically or abusively it really depends on the trader’s mindset and purpose.
