Standard Chartered Sets Bullish Price Targets for 4 Cryptos

2026/07/19 18:30Browse 0

Standard Chartered's digital assets research team, led by Geoff Kendrick, has issued ultra-bullish price targets for four cryptocurrencies, predicting substantial gains over the next 12 to 18 months and beyond. The bank sees Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and XRP as poised for significant appreciation, driven by institutional adoption and sector growth.

Bitcoin: Soaring to Six Figures

Standard Chartered expects Bitcoin to reach $100,000 by the end of 2026, with further targets of $200,000 in 2027 and $500,000 by 2030. The bank attributes this potential surge to rising institutional adoption, including new investment products, portfolio allocations by large investors, and companies adding Bitcoin to their balance sheets as a treasury asset.

Ethereum and Solana: DeFi Powerhouses

Ethereum is forecast to hit $10,000 by the end of 2027 and $40,000 by 2030, according to Standard Chartered. The bank's thesis rests on Ethereum's dominance in decentralized finance (DeFi), particularly in stablecoins and real-world asset tokenization, both growing exponentially. Solana, described as a faster, cheaper alternative to Ethereum, has a target of $265 by 2027 and $2,000 by 2030—a potential 2,500% gain from its current price around $75. Solana's rise in DeFi total value locked (TVL) supports this outlook, though it must transition from retail meme coin trading to institutional-grade offerings.

XRP: The Banker's Coin

XRP is projected to reach $7 by 2027 and $28 by 2030, up from about $1.10. Ripple's blockchain-based payment network for banks and financial institutions underpins this forecast. Pending legislation like the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act could further boost adoption and demand for XRP.

Caution on Targets

Despite these optimistic projections, Standard Chartered has already trimmed its 2026 targets due to the recent market downturn. Prediction markets give only a 13% chance of Bitcoin hitting $100,000 this year and a 10% chance for Ethereum reaching $4,000. Investors should temper expectations, as further market weakness could prompt additional target reductions.
