Morgan Stanley Files Second S-1 Amendments for ETH and SOL ETFs

2026/06/22 14:25Browse 0

Morgan Stanley has submitted second amended S-1 registration statements for spot Ethereum and Solana ETFs to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, dated June 18. The filings follow a similar set of amendments filed on May 20, keeping the fund names unchanged as "Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust" and "Morgan Stanley Solana Trust."

ETF Listing and Custody Details

Both ETFs are expected to list on NYSE Arca, with ticker symbols MSSE for the Ethereum fund and MSOL for the Solana fund. The custody arrangements remain unchanged, with BNY Mellon and Coinbase Custody Trust continuing to serve as the cryptocurrency custodians for both trusts.

Seed Investment Disclosed

New in this second round of amendments is the disclosure of a seed investment made on June 15 by Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), the asset management arm of Morgan Stanley. MSIM purchased five shares of each ETF at $20 per share, for a total of $100 per fund, as a seed investor for audit purposes. This means each ETF received an initial $100 capital injection.

Morgan Stanley's Broader Crypto Push

This filing is part of Morgan Stanley's ongoing expansion into digital asset ETFs. In April, MSIM launched the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), a spot Bitcoin ETP listed on NYSE Arca under the ticker MSBT. The latest S-1 amendments signal continued progress toward bringing ETH and SOL spot products to market, though the timeline for SEC approval remains unclear.
