OnePlus exits US and Europe, shifts to Oppo software

2026/07/16 17:00Browse 0

OnePlus is officially pulling out of the US and European markets, according to multiple reports. The move comes as part of a broader restructuring at Oppo, OnePlus's parent company, with existing OnePlus devices transitioning to Oppo's ColorOS for future software updates. The change is expected to happen as early as this week.

End of an era for OnePlus in Western markets

OnePlus, once known for its flagship-killer smartphones and a loyal fanbase in the West, is now ceasing operations in the US and Europe. The decision reflects a strategic shift at Oppo, which is consolidating its brand portfolio. Existing OnePlus devices will no longer receive OxygenOS updates; instead, they will move to Oppo's ColorOS, which is already used in many Asian markets.

The news was first reported by WinFuture and later confirmed by Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter. The pullout marks a significant retreat from two of the most competitive smartphone markets globally, where OnePlus had struggled to gain significant market share against Apple and Samsung.

Impact on users and future updates

For current OnePlus owners in the US and Europe, the transition to ColorOS means a change in software experience. While both operating systems are based on Android, ColorOS has a different interface and feature set. OnePlus has not yet detailed the timeline for the software switch or how it will handle warranties and customer support.

The company's exit also raises questions about the future of its product lineup. OnePlus had recently launched devices like the OnePlus 13 series, but it is unclear if those will be the last for Western markets. Oppo has not commented on whether it will continue to sell OnePlus-branded phones in other regions.
