Are there any estimates on the current quantity of bitcoins available?
Can anyone provide estimates on the current quantity of bitcoins available in circulation? I'm curious to know the total number of bitcoins that have been mined so far and how many are still left to be mined. Are there any reliable sources or calculations that can shed light on this?

- England FreedmanNov 18, 2020 · 5 years agoSure! As of now, there are approximately 18.5 million bitcoins in circulation. This number represents the total number of bitcoins that have been mined since its inception. The maximum supply of bitcoins is capped at 21 million, which means there are still around 2.5 million bitcoins left to be mined. These remaining bitcoins will be gradually released into circulation through the mining process. It's important to note that the rate of bitcoin mining decreases over time, which means it becomes harder and more resource-intensive to mine new bitcoins.
- Itay SteingoldOct 15, 2024 · 2 years agoWell, estimating the exact quantity of bitcoins available can be a bit tricky. However, based on the current data, it is estimated that around 88% of the total supply of bitcoins has already been mined. This means that there are roughly 18.5 million bitcoins in circulation. The remaining 12% of bitcoins will be gradually mined over the next few decades until the maximum supply of 21 million is reached. It's worth mentioning that the rate of bitcoin mining is halved approximately every four years, which contributes to the scarcity of bitcoins.
- Slayyy errNov 10, 2023 · 2 years agoAccording to a recent report by BYDFi, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, the current quantity of bitcoins in circulation is estimated to be around 18.5 million. This number represents the total number of bitcoins that have been mined since its inception. It's important to note that the remaining bitcoins to be mined are subject to the mining process, which becomes increasingly difficult over time. Therefore, the rate at which new bitcoins are added to circulation gradually decreases. The maximum supply of bitcoins is set at 21 million, and it is expected to be reached in the next few decades.
