- So Hao Ha Mỹ TrânFeb 09, 2026 · 5 months agoA SIM swap attack is a type of fraud where a hacker tricks a mobile carrier into transferring a victim's phone number to a SIM card controlled by the hacker. This allows the hacker to receive all incoming calls and messages intended for the victim. If the victim uses their phone number for two-factor authentication or password recovery for their cryptocurrency accounts, the hacker can gain access to their accounts and steal their cryptocurrency. It's important to use additional security measures like hardware wallets and strong passwords to protect your cryptocurrency from SIM swap attacks.
- Kirkland KudskMar 05, 2022 · 4 years agoSIM swap attacks can indeed be used to steal your cryptocurrency. By gaining control of your phone number, hackers can intercept two-factor authentication codes and gain access to your cryptocurrency accounts. It's crucial to be vigilant and take steps to protect yourself, such as enabling additional security measures like Google Authenticator or using a hardware wallet. Additionally, be cautious about sharing personal information online and avoid clicking on suspicious links or downloading unknown apps, as these can also be used to facilitate SIM swap attacks.
- Koichi NakayamadaOct 20, 2020 · 6 years agoAt BYDFi, we take the security of our users' cryptocurrency very seriously. While SIM swap attacks can be used to steal cryptocurrency, we have implemented multiple layers of security to protect against such attacks. We recommend our users to enable two-factor authentication using Google Authenticator or a hardware wallet, and to regularly update their passwords. It's also important to be cautious about sharing personal information and to avoid falling for phishing attempts. By taking these precautions, you can significantly reduce the risk of your cryptocurrency being stolen through a SIM swap attack.
