- Bengtson JohanssonJul 24, 2025 · 9 months agoRetained earnings in the financial statements of cryptocurrency companies are accounted for using the same principles as traditional companies. They represent the accumulated profits that have not been distributed to shareholders as dividends. To calculate retained earnings, the company subtracts dividends paid to shareholders from the net income for the period. The resulting amount is added to the beginning retained earnings balance to arrive at the ending retained earnings balance. This balance is then presented in the equity section of the balance sheet.
- Edouard CourtySep 24, 2021 · 5 years agoCryptocurrency companies account for retained earnings in their financial statements by following generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards (IFRS). These standards provide guidelines on how to calculate and present retained earnings. The calculation involves subtracting dividends paid to shareholders from the net income for the period. The resulting amount is added to the beginning retained earnings balance to determine the ending retained earnings balance. This balance is then reported in the equity section of the financial statements.
