How does bitcoin denominations work?
Can you explain how bitcoin denominations work? I'm new to bitcoin and I'm not sure how the different units of bitcoin, like BTC, mBTC, and satoshi, relate to each other. How are they calculated and why are they used?

- SubhanOct 27, 2025 · 6 months agoBitcoin denominations can be a bit confusing at first, but once you understand how they work, it's actually quite simple. Bitcoin, the main unit of the currency, is denoted as BTC. 1 BTC is equal to 1,000 mBTC (millibitcoin) or 1,000,000 satoshis. mBTC is used to represent smaller amounts of bitcoin, and satoshis are the smallest unit of bitcoin. For example, if you have 0.5 BTC, it's the same as having 500 mBTC or 500,000 satoshis. The use of different denominations makes it easier to work with smaller amounts of bitcoin and allows for more precise transactions.
