- Stougaard LykkegaardJun 25, 2020 · 6 years agoAbsolutely! Steam started accepting Bitcoin as a payment method back in 2016. However, due to the high transaction fees and volatility of Bitcoin, they discontinued this option in 2017. So, currently, you cannot directly use Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency to purchase games on Steam.
- JackoAug 13, 2025 · 8 months agoUnfortunately, Steam no longer supports direct cryptocurrency payments. They had a trial period where they accepted Bitcoin, but it didn't work out. The transaction fees were too high, and the processing time was too slow. So, for now, you'll have to use traditional payment methods on Steam.
- musekmkrJan 11, 2021 · 5 years agoYes, it is possible to use crypto to purchase games on Steam, but not directly. You can use a platform like BYDFi to convert your cryptocurrencies into gift cards or prepaid cards that can be used on Steam. BYDFi offers a seamless and secure way to convert your crypto into Steam credits. Just sign up, deposit your crypto, and exchange it for a Steam gift card. Then, you can use the gift card to buy games on Steam. It's a convenient workaround for crypto enthusiasts who want to use their digital assets for gaming.
- Muzaffer AydinJul 16, 2021 · 5 years agoWhile Steam itself doesn't support crypto payments anymore, there are other platforms that allow you to buy Steam games with cryptocurrencies. These platforms act as intermediaries, accepting your crypto and then purchasing the games on your behalf. They often offer competitive exchange rates and a wide range of supported cryptocurrencies. Just make sure to do your research and choose a reputable platform.
- Arpit yadavJun 22, 2022 · 4 years agoNo, you cannot directly use crypto to purchase games on Steam. Steam removed the option to pay with Bitcoin due to its high fees and slow transaction times. However, there are alternative ways to use your crypto for gaming. Some third-party platforms allow you to buy Steam gift cards with cryptocurrencies. Once you have the gift card, you can redeem it on Steam and use it to purchase games. It's a workaround that enables crypto enthusiasts to enjoy gaming with their digital assets.
