Validators in a proof-of-stake system need to have a significant stake in the network, which makes them a target for attackers. Ethereum needs to develop robust mechanisms to prevent attacks and ensure the integrity of the consensus algorithm. Additionally, the transition from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake will require careful planning and coordination to avoid any disruptions to the network.
