- Kiran TamangJul 22, 2022 · 4 years agoA limit order is an instruction to buy or sell a cryptocurrency at a specific price or better. It allows traders to set a maximum price they are willing to pay for a buy order or a minimum price they are willing to accept for a sell order. Once the market price reaches the specified limit price, the order is executed. On the other hand, a stop limit order is a combination of a stop order and a limit order. It consists of a stop price and a limit price. When the stop price is reached, the order is triggered and becomes a limit order. The limit order is then executed at the specified limit price or better. Stop limit orders are commonly used to limit losses or protect profits by setting a stop price to trigger the order and a limit price to control the execution price.
- godof gameNov 16, 2023 · 2 years agoAlright, so here's the deal. A limit order is like setting a price tag on a cryptocurrency. You tell the exchange, 'Hey, I want to buy this coin, but only if it's below $10.' Or, 'I want to sell this coin, but only if it's above $20.' The order will only be executed if the market price reaches your specified limit. On the other hand, a stop limit order is like a safety net. You set a stop price, which triggers the order, and a limit price, which determines the execution price. Let's say you own a coin that's currently worth $100, but you want to sell it if the price drops to $90. You can set a stop limit order with a stop price of $90 and a limit price of $85. If the price drops to $90, the order is triggered and becomes a limit order to sell at $85 or better. It's a way to protect yourself from sudden price drops.
- Alen AlexJul 26, 2020 · 6 years agoIn the cryptocurrency market, limit orders and stop limit orders serve different purposes. A limit order is used to set a specific price at which you want to buy or sell a cryptocurrency. For example, if you believe the price of a coin will go down, you can set a limit order to buy at a lower price. On the other hand, a stop limit order is used to limit losses or protect profits. It combines a stop order and a limit order. When the stop price is reached, the order is triggered and becomes a limit order. This allows you to control the execution price. Stop limit orders are commonly used by traders to automate their trading strategies and manage risk effectively.
