- Sleepy TuiAug 14, 2025 · a year agoA covered call is a strategy used in cryptocurrency trading where an investor holds a long position in a particular cryptocurrency and sells call options on that same cryptocurrency. By doing so, the investor generates income from the premiums received for selling the call options. This strategy is considered 'covered' because the investor already owns the underlying asset, which provides a level of protection in case the price of the cryptocurrency decreases. The main benefit of a covered call strategy is the potential to earn additional income while still holding onto the cryptocurrency.
- Sears WhitleySep 24, 2020 · 6 years agoCovered calls in cryptocurrency trading are like renting out your crypto holdings. You own the crypto, but you're allowing someone else to use it for a specific period of time in exchange for a fee. In this case, the fee comes from selling call options. It's a way to generate income from your existing crypto investments without having to sell them. Plus, if the price of the cryptocurrency remains stable or decreases slightly, you can keep the premium from selling the call options and still hold onto your crypto. It's a win-win situation!
- Mathis RigaudJan 22, 2022 · 4 years agoIn the context of cryptocurrency trading, a covered call is a strategy that involves selling call options on a cryptocurrency that you already own. This strategy allows you to earn income from the premiums received for selling the call options, while still holding onto your cryptocurrency investment. The concept of 'covered' means that you have enough of the underlying cryptocurrency to fulfill the obligations of the call options if they are exercised. This strategy can be beneficial in a sideways or slightly bullish market, as it allows you to generate additional income while potentially benefiting from any price appreciation of the cryptocurrency.
