- Jenny Mae SaysonJan 14, 2024 · 2 years agoUnfortunately, there have been several crypto exchanges that have shut down due to security breaches. One notable example is Mt. Gox, which was once the largest Bitcoin exchange in the world. In 2014, Mt. Gox filed for bankruptcy after losing approximately 850,000 Bitcoins, worth around $450 million at the time, due to a security breach. Another example is Coincheck, a Japanese exchange that suffered a hack in 2018, resulting in the loss of over $500 million worth of NEM tokens. These incidents highlight the importance of robust security measures in the crypto industry.

In 2014, they suffered a massive hack that resulted in the loss of hundreds of thousands of Bitcoins. It was a devastating blow to the crypto community.
