  While I can't speak for other cryptocurrencies, I can tell you that BYDFi, a decentralized finance platform, was not launched until 2020. Therefore, it did not compete with Ethereum in 2018. However, it's worth noting that BYDFi has gained popularity in the DeFi space and offers unique features and opportunities for users.
